For runners, the fall season is big in terms of training for spring’s main event: the Boston Marathon.

In honor of this all-important season – made up of half-marathons and other races to help the serious runners land their qualifying times for future marathons – New England-based brand Tracksmith has released two special edition running singlets. One for New York, and one for Boston, the cities that happen to be home to the oldest, most celebrated marathons in the country.

The singlets are made of high-quality mesh, emblazoned with the Tracksmith rabbit emblem, and come with four gold safety pins for easily attaching bibs on race day. The NYC jersey is decorated with a blue sash detail and the logo ‘NYC 14,’ while the Boston version has red detailing and the logo ‘BQ 15.’

Wondering where the Q in BQ comes from? It stands for ‘Boston Qualifier,’ meaning, the jersey is only on sale for those who have qualified for the Boston Marathon. Those who want to buy it online will have to enter their qualification verification code to unlock it – talk about exclusive. Qualifying times for the 2015 Boston Marathon had to have been achieved on or after September 14, 2013; registration for the race closed on September 17, 2014.

The NYC jersey is available to everyone, proving that the Boston Marathon flaunts the most prestige (in my humble opinion, at least). Each jersey sells for $70.

The pair of NYC and BQ singlets are Tracksmith’s first new release since the brand launched earlier this year, after raising a funding round of $1.6 million. The company is located in Wellesley, Mass., right at the halfway point of the Boston Marathon course, and one the founders, Matt Taylor, worked for Puma as the head of marketing in running and training before launching Tracksmith.
