Governor Charlie Baker announced that the travel ban has been lifted in western Massachusetts, but the travel ban is still in effect across eastern portions of the state, including Boston.

Speaking at a Tuesday afternoon press conference, Gov. Baker said the travel ban – which went in effect at midnight – has been lifted in Berkshire, Hampshire, Hampden and Franklin counties. The travel ban remains in effect for all of Interstate 90.

The governor said residents should not expect MBTA service to resume Tuesday, adding that more information would be provided at another briefing scheduled for 5 p.m.

Gov. Baker and state police Lt. Colonel Timothy Alben said no arrests were made in violation of the travel ban, but several citations were issued.

It’s unclear how much the blizzard (Winter Storm Juno) is expected to cost the state. In 2013, the state Department of Transportation spent $20 million on snow.
