If you’re reading this, the headline probably had something to do with it. But if you’ve been following – even just a little bit – the Boston real estate landscape, that shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise.

Boston is expensive. The Red Sox – who will open their 2015 season on the road Monday afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies – are an expensive franchise, that spends a lot of money. And real estate developer Samuels & Associates is giving the Fenway neighborhood a pricey makeover.

Trulia‘s recent study just added another dose of confirmation. After taking a look at home prices in the neighborhoods near MLB stadiums (excluding Toronto), Trulia discovered Friendly Fenway is the most expensive to live around.

Specifically, Trulia found that homes within 1 or 2 miles of Fenway carry an average median price per foot of $1,107 in 2015 – which is $82 more than the second most expensive MLB stadium, AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.

In 2013, Fenway took home the number two spot on Trulia’s ranking, behind AT&T Park.

The Red Sox home opener is scheduled for Monday, April 13, at 3:05 p.m. against the Washington Nationals.
