Anyone in Boston planning on having a Christmas tree delivered by Uber this year needs to, if he or she hasn’t already, develop a contingency plan. Uber won’t be delivering Christmas trees this year, but holy crap did they drop one hell of a teaser on what else the company might have up its sleeve.

Oh yeah. Snowflakes, unique and special ones. That’s what users might be offered this year by Uber. Which is a gift that, unlike a Christmas tree, doesn’t need to check its privilege.

Uber partnered with Home Depot in 2013 to offer users the opportunity to hail a Christmas tree directly from the Uber app. The catch was, Uber Tree–like Uber Health and Uber Ice Cream–was a one-day-only thing. Users who wanted the undisputed heavyweight rideshare marketing campaign champion of the world to deliver their trees only had between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. last December 4 to make that happen.

It worked like this. Users opened the Uber app and chose the UberTREE option. Two, three minutes after that, Uber would, in theory, pull up to the scene (ceiling intact) with a tree. Uber stocked and sold respectable seven to eight foot Fraser Firs for $135, and threw in a complimentary stand.

Does the Uber tree drought extend beyond Boston? Literally no one knows, but it looks like NYC could be the next city to fall.

NYC’s waiting on a miracle…do you, Cindy Lou.
