In the end it all comes down to synergies, the buzzword for media mash-ups that marry the seemingly disparate with the blindingly obvious. Taken from the Greek syn-ergos, it literally means “working together.”

Which is why we want to give a big shout out to our friends at Conduit Labs who this morning have announced that they have signed a deal with Universal Music Group, a division of the French media behemoth Vivendi. This deal gives the Cambridge based firm access to Universal’s huge roster of artists to ensure that “the most fun you can have with music online” may now include social gaming with the sounds of Lady Gaga, Nickelback or Rob Zombie  to guide you through.

Full financial details have not been disclosed but coming after the $3 million in funding that Conduit raised in September, and being recognized in January as one of OnMedia’s Top 100 Private Companies, the Company seems to be well on the way to ensuring that music and video games will continue to enjoy a very special relationship.

As we saw at PAX East, the current trend of quality music gaming product coming out of the Boston area is testament to the talent that we have here and continues to ensure that Boston is the place to be if you want a mash-up that really rocks.
