Founded in Canada but with their community manager here in Boston, Radian6 is doing some celebrating today. The company, which has built one of the most well-known social media monitoring tools, has been acquired by Salesforce.com for a whopping $325 million — $50 million in stock and $276 million in cash. The company is backed by three Canadian investors, one of which has an office here in Boston (Summerhill Venture Partners).

Radian6’s community manager Lauren Vargas is currently the only Radian6 employee in Boston. But she hinted to us this morning that either more bodies may be heading Boston’s way or that the company will be doing some hiring of the talent that already exists right here in the Hub.

We’ve written about Radian6 before, speaking to their being one of the best social media analysis tools on the market, and more recently about their partnership with Mullen that ranked Superbowl ads by sentiment on Twitter (dubbed BrandBowl).

Salesforce.com made another Boston company happy not more than two weeks ago, adding to part of marketing software company HubSpot’s $32M funding round.
