In one of the more exciting revealings at Comic Con 2013, Warner Brothers announced a Man of Steel sequel that will feature Batman as a character. Harry Lennix took the stage at Warner Brothers’ panel promoting its latest Superman flick and read a couple of intriguing lines from The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan’s third installment of his take on the Batman series.

“I want you to remember Clark,” Lennix said, “in all the years to come. In all your private moments. In all the years to come, my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the one man who beat you.”

No further details were announced but WB did reveal that main characters Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), and Diane Lane (Martha Kent) will return along with the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill. They also unveiled the new logo as seen above.

Released in June and shot with an estimated $225 million budget, Man of Steel has grossed approximately $283,181,087 already in the U.S alone, making it one of the most successful movies of the year.

The film looks to build on the growing trend of merging together multiple film franchises ŕ la The Avengers, one of the few features ever to reach a $1.5 billion gross. Christopher Nolan’s Batman trio of Batman blockbusters have grossed $374,218,673; $1,004,558,444; and $1,084,439,099 respectively worldwide for a hefty total of $2,463,216,216.

There’s been no mention of a release date though it may have to compete with The Avengers 2, which is already slated to open on May 1, 2015. BoxOffice.com notes that “July 17, 2015 is currently open. WB released both The Dark Knight on July 18, 2008 and The Dark Knight Rises on July 20, 2012, so that release date could be very enticing. ”
