The Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke VMA performance last night could be the most infamous in MTV history. Taking the stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards last night, Miley Cyrus performed an cringe-worthy rendition of We Can’t Stop, complete with backup dancers with giant stuffed teddy bears strapped to their backs, followed by her dropping her similarly-styled teddy bear onesie and chiming in with Robin Thicke on his popular summer smash hit Blurred Lines.

But it didn’t just end with her simply chiming in. The girl twerked the lights out, rubbing all up on Thicke as he nonchalantly sang his summer jam while donning what appeared to be referee styled pajamas. Thicke was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Collaboration, and Best Song of the Summer.

Cyrus was also nominated for four awards (Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Editing, and Best Song of the Summer), tying Thicke, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars for the second-most for the night.

Also taking the stage to perform at the awards show last night was a surprise, though hotly rumored, reunion appearance by *NSYNC who belted out their perpetual crowd-favorites Girlfriend and Bye Bye Bye. Timberlake earned the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, prompting producers and show runners to call on the occasion for an *NSYNC reconvening.

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry also took the Miley route for their turns on stage, each donning skimpy outfits as a likely press ploy to get themselves on the radar of those looking to purchase their respective upcoming albums.
