Fashion bloggers, lifestyle professionals and boutique owners all have one thing in common: They have personal style down to a T. But did you ever wonder what the wardrobe behind the impeccably well-dressed looks like? Each week, we’ll go inside the closets of these stylish Bostonians to find out how they put together the well-crafted appearance.

For the first installment of “What’s In Your Closet,” we asked local fashion blogger Emily Geaman, behind the blog Shell Chic’d, to show us where the magic happens. Sure, we get to see the put-together finished products on her lifestyle blog, but we wanted to see where the inspiration started.

She led us to her North End wardrobe, a collection of classic pieces combined with funky jewelry that make for a fun twist on the overall New England flair. After raiding her digs, we asked Geaman a few questions about her style, where she shops, and what trends she has her eye on.

Read her answers below before clicking through to see inside her closet.

How would you describe your personal style?

Classic with a playful twist. I love simple shift dresses, but in bright colors or whimsical prints. I pair preppy oxford shirts with lace shorts or sequin skirts. I stock up on blazers, but mostly on those with a boyfriend fit. I never underestimate the power of a little black dress, but I prefer one with a scalloped hem, as seen in last year’s BostInno Fall Lookbook. I suppose it’s some weird combination of Jackie Kennedy meets Carrie Bradshaw, with a nautical New England flair.

Where do you love to shop?

Lilly Pulitzer, Jack Wills, Madewell, J.Crew (Factory for the win!), Anthropologie, plus local Boston boutiques – Mint Julep, Shake the Tree, and LIT especially – when money allows!

What are your must-have staple items you think make for a great wardrobe?

I can never get enough oxford shirts or cable-knit sweaters; a brown leather bag, pearl earrings, and black ballet flats; a little white dress; a pair of go-to party shoes that make you feel fabulous; tortoise sunglasses; blazers, both fitted and boyfriend style; a handful of navy and white striped tees; a classic trench coat, peacoat, and quilted jacket.

What up-and-coming trend pieces do you currently own or have your eye on?

Matching separates! I used to think I’d never be caught dead in a crop top, but paired with a matching high-waisted skirt, they are much more my speed. I love this set from JOA

I think capes are going to have a moment this fall as well. I tried one of Ellsworth & Ivey’s last year, and I think they’re only going to get bigger and more mainstream this season.
