Fashion bloggers, lifestyle professionals and boutique owners all have one thing in common: They have personal style down to a T. But did you ever wonder what the wardrobe behind the impeccably well-dressed looks like? Each week, we’ll go inside the closets of these stylish Bostonians to find out how they put together the well-crafted appearance.

Leslie Musser lives outside of Boston in a refurbished firehouse with her husband of one year. With experience in marketing, public relations, and wedding and event planning, Musser uses her lifestyle blog, One Brass Fox, as an outlet to share her outlook on lifestyle, fashion, food and design, in a way she hopes can unite people from different cultures and countries. She shares recipes, her personal style and more daily inspiration through her blog posts; below, she elaborates on what makes up her wardrobe. How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style often takes the approach of “reinvented classics.” I love pairing timeless pieces with trendy accents to create one cohesive look. This encourages me to be creative with what is already in my closet while pushing me to carefully choose what in-style items to add. I have my days of bold colors and statement jewelry, but overall I like to abide by the principal that “less is more.” That way, I wear the clothes as opposed to having them wear (read: overshadow) me.

Where do you love to shop?

Growing up I used to be a total “quantity over quality” girl. I wanted more and more clothes but never bought anything that could last through one season. I have since changed my shopping strategy to focus on quality, but still with an eye toward bargains. This has made my top shopping destinations places such as Nordstrom Rack, Zappos and Piperlime. But, to be honest, I could live inside the four walls of Anthropologie and be fully content.

What are your must-have staple items for a great wardrobe?

Let me start off by saying, your wardrobe staples will be an investment. That’s important. When you expect an item to last years and lots of wears, it needs to be high quality. These are not the pieces to skimp on. So starting a little clothing fund and practicing patience is worth it in the end! Once this foundation is set, it is simple to accessorize with less expensive items and seasonal accents.

Here are my top eleven items to start (and sustain) a versatile wardrobe for any body type:

1. black blazer, AYR

2. dark wash bootcut denim, Citizens of Humanity

3. LBD, Zara

4. neutral clutch, BCBG

5. white blouse, Alice and Olivia

6. black flats, Regina Frye

7. cardigan, Browns Fashion

8. trousers, Zara

9. nude pumps, Stuart Weitzman

10. pencil skirt, Classiques Entier

11. simple chain necklace, Neiman Marcus

What up and coming trend pieces do you currently own or have your eye on?

I often enter new seasons with color crushes. For fall, I’m eyeing rich oxblood tones, warm neutrals, and savory greens. The fashion forecast is already shaping up to be full of vibrant textures and patterns such as quilted leather, traditional plaid, and waffle-weave knits. I’ve swooped up a pair of army green chinos, a burgundy scarf, and quilted leather moto jacket that will play recurring roles in my fall wardrobe.
