We’re already five days deep into November, and that means Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. If you’ve already found yourself dreaming (and drooling) over that future plate of turkey and pie, you’re not alone. There are some Thanksgiving foods that make my quite expensive (and exhausting) plane ride home worth the effort. But there are others that usually make me cringe.

Say what you want — but not every traditional Thanksgiving food  deserves a place at your dinner table. Many holiday “comfort food” dishes can even make a loyal foodie run for the hills when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner. After all, there’s nothing less appetizing than food out of a can with strange and gooey textures, or an overly sweet side dish to accompany that fried turkey.
