The only actual newspaper that I read is the Metro. Why? Because it sits next to every MBTA stop and just begs to be read because of it’s tabloid-esque front page headlines (it’s also free). The rest of my news I consume online and on my iPhone. And I am not the only one.

The Globe is now in talks to print the Herald. Two competitors will be combining printing forces in order to drastically reduce costs and hopefully save their old school business models. Top media outlets are now putting up paywalls in order to stop the bleeding from the decline in their print circulation. But like myself people want FREE content. In fact, 70% of the people surveyed below disagreed with free content turning into paid content. And even more drastic is that only 10% of the people polled here still have a newspaper subscription.

The infographic below put together by GetSatisfaction and ColumnFive Media is chock full of rich stats and facts as to why the print industry is finished and the rise of digital media and maybe the iPad might be king.
