Ever wonder what the fashion authorities at Rue La La wear to work? Well, we can tell you it involves a lot of trendy denim, fashion-forward blazers, and statement necklaces. From the executive suite to the fashion editor’s desk – and, of course, the photo studio – there are many looks represented in the office. Here, we chat with three of our style experts about their outfit-planning routines and which fall trends they can’t wait to try.

How do you plan your outfits?
Maureen G.
: I dress for practicality: flats when I’m running to market appointments, heels when I’m in the office. I always wear a disproportionate amount of black and a piece of statement jewelry.
Nicole A.: I like to mix casual and tailored pieces – a slouchy sweater with a pencil skirt or the perfect blazer with boyfriend jeans.
Lauren D.: I look at the photo schedule and see what I’m styling the next day. I need to dress for the weather and wherever the day’s shoot may take me.

Do you assemble outfits the day of or the night before?
MG: Always day of. It’s wonderful when I travel because I don’t have to think about what I’m wearing that morning.
NA: Day of, because it’s very much about how I’m feeling in the moment. My husband sometimes comes home to a wardrobe graveyard of sorts – my pile of discards from that morning.
LD: Sometimes it’s when I can’t get to sleep at night, but mostly it’s in the morning. I’ve finally organized my closet, and by hanging tops and dresses according to color, I’ve saved a lot of precious morning time.

Which fall trends are you excited to experiment with?
MG: Textured, oversized sweaters paired with a new lug-sole boot will be the perfect fall weekend outfit – I can look chic while running after my ten-month-old.
NA: Brights, especially lipstick red. I tend to gravitate toward neutrals, particularly in cooler weather, but it’s nice to have a pop of color now and again.
LD: Looking for the ideal wool coat this year. And trying stuff on at Rue before it goes on sale is a perk!
