Just before 4 p.m. the MBTA posted this hyper-masculine, Red Sox pride-drenched, picture of its mascot, Charlie.

The separation between the beard and the sideburns doesn’t work for me. Still, a valid, genuine attempt nonetheless. Good to see the entire city rallying behind the Sox.

Listen, the team is superb; easy to route for; and fun to watch. Having said that, I hope this is the last time they play this season at Fenway, if you catch my drift. So, if you have the chance, get out to Fenway tonight. It could be the last time to see the bearded one’s in uniform at Fenway this season.

With gates opening for game two at 5:37 p.m., the MBTA has released its plans for extended service:

The Red, Orange, Blue, Green and Silver Lines will operate on their normal weekday schedule. If necessary, however, subway service will continue until all fans have been accommodated following tonight’s game.

The Commuter Rail’s Fitchburg/South Acton, Franklin, Haverhill, Lowell, and Providence/Stoughton Lines will be held approximately 45 minutes after the last out of game two is made but will not leave after 1 a.m.

The Framingham/Worcester Line will depart South Station at its regularly scheduled time while an extra train will accommodate World Series passengers at Yawkey Way, departing approximately 15 minutes after the last out.

All other lines will operate as regularly scheduled.

Buses will run until all of Fenway’s faithful have been accommodated for after the game.

First pitch is at 8:07 p.m.
