Dear Star Wars fans, you can stop trying to use the force to move that apple on your desk, because ILMxLab is now offering something better.

According to The Verge, Lucasfilm, Skywalker Sound and Industrial Light&Magic are teaming up to form ILM Experience Lab, or ILMxLab. The new production team will work on creating virtual and augmented reality experiences. And for those who are still holding out for their invitation to the Jedi Academy, you may be in luck.

ILMxLab’s first priority will be a Star Wars VR experience, to be released alongside or possibly before the debut of The Force Awakens, later this year.

Unlike most virtual reality video games, the Star Wars experience will not include a competition between participants.

The newly-formed team’s film will use photo-realism rather than animation, USA Today reports. With the idea to put viewers inside an interactive Star Wars world, where they can explore stunning planets and hang out with their favorite characters.

ILMxLab has thus far revealed two demos to USA Today.

The first, which was demoed on an iPad, invites users to hide from storm troopers alongside R2D2 and C3PO and afforded panoramic views of a desolate, sandy world, USA Today reports. The second trailer was an Oculus VR experience, which puts the player behind the controls of an X-Wing fighter jet and allows them to navigate space using banking commands enabled by reactive head tilts.

The iPad experience sounds great, but users will be itching to experience the world of Star Wars on the Oculus Rift. Unfortunately, the Rift is not set to release until Q1 of 2016.
