With youth unemployment poised to be the next global crisis, dpaf is taking its message on the road with its national outreach tour, titled ‘WeTheFuture: Preparing Today’s Students for the Jobs of
Tomorrow.’ The 10 state tour beginning on March 14th in Ohio will engage local stakeholders to develop achievable solutions to the youth unemployment crisis at the state level that can translate to the national stage.

The WeTheFuture tour will feature a combination of roundtable discussions, on-campus panel events, and dpaf’s signature DealMaker Mixers—networking happy hours that give recent graduates an opportunity to connect with senior executives from area businesses. Events will bring together local business leaders, educators, policy makers, advocates, parents and students to collaborate on initiatives that will provide young people with a pipeline from the classroom to gainful employment. Each roundtable will identify the unique needs within the state and both foster ongoing dialogue and develop action items to ensure that outcomes can be implemented on the local and state level. The tour will culminate in a report of policy recommendations derived from local discussions and successful initiatives that will be shared with legislators in Washington, DC.

The tour will kick off with a roundtable event in Cleveland, Ohio and will continue to the following states:

– Virginia
– District of Columbia
– Illinois
– Maine
– Florida
– Texas
– Georgia
– Utah
– California
