It’s the most wonderful time of the year! For some, that means relaxing by a fire or enjoying lights and decorations. But for a lot of us twenty-somethings, it means your Great Aunt Marge is at your house, and your college buddies are in town. So for those of you looking for an excuse to get out and put your beer coat on, here are some of Chicago’s best and biggest holiday bar crawls.
Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl
Saturday, Dec. 7th – 11:30 am
Dig through mom’s closet and don your most hideous red and green catastrophe to the day-long Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl. The party starts at FatPour on Division and moves to Boundary, Moonshine and Anthem. Tickets are $25.
SantaCon Bar Crawl
Saturday, Dec. 7th – 12 pm
If you haven’t experienced the joy of either watching or partaking in hundreds of drunken Santa Clauses stumbling the streets of the city, make this year your first. Last year, over 300 Santa and Mrs. Clauses showed up for the annual Santa Con Bar Crawl. Starting off at the Congress Plaza Hotel on S. Michigan, this crawl hits bars, pubs and even The Bean (photo op!). Your wristband will get you drink specials and access all day long. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
TBOX 2013
Saturday, Dec 14th – 8 am
This is the 18th year of Festa Parties’ infamous Twelve Bars of Christmas. By “twelve,” they really mean 50+ bars in Wrigleyville, Lakeview and Boystown. This year’s theme is Airline, and costumes are highly encouraged (think everything from PanAm to Top Gun). This crawl is serious – tickets are $42.50 and include a wristband, lanyard, boarding pass, flight bag, t shirt and packet full of information that you’ll need to pick up ahead of time. Your mission for the day is to hit at least twelve of the hotspots in twelve hours. Festa Parties even provides an app full of features and info!
