The GW Healing Clinic will host its Second Annual Heel-to-Heal 5K walk/ run on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the C&O Canal Tow Path in Georgetown, next to 33rd Street.

Last year, over 100 people participated and raised $27,000. “We are excited to establish a tradition with the 5K event this year,” says Paul Kline, co-director of the clinic. “Besides being a lot of fun, the proceeds benefit undeserved and underinsured patients in the Washington, DC area. We are hoping that these funds will enable us to open another clinic this year.”

The GW Healing Clinic is an entirely student run effort that affords students the opportunity to more fully engage in our community.  Fundraising is now more important than ever as it will help sustain our clinic at Bread for the City and support our efforts to open a new site.

Help GW reach their goals for this school year of:

  • Opening a second clinic site to serve more patients and students alike
  • Increasing our community presence and outreach by bringing healthcare services directly to the areas that need them most
  • Continuing our partnership with the GW Public Service Commission and providing free preventative health screenings throughout the underserved communities of the Washington, DC area.

GW welcomes all walkers and runners, especially those from the GW community and their families and friends.  Our event is a medical costume race, so get creative and have fun!

GW has several fabulous prizes for best costumes and for top fundraisers including Step 1 courses from DIT or Kaplan, a one-night’s stay at the Fairmont and dinner for two at Juniper. They will also be selling raffle tickets for a bed and breakfast stay at the Ritz-Carlton.
