Local bike-share operator Hubway pledged to keep its Boston stations in operation through at least mid-December — and delivered. Hubway has kept its stations open throughout the entire month, but will close all Boston stations on the last day of the year, Wednesday, December 31.

Hubway Marketing Manager Benjy Kantor told BostInno they’d aim to keep the stations open for as long as possible, depending on the weather conditions. As you may have noticed, Mother Nature has been uncharacteristically tame for this time of year, with temperatures recently hovering in the 50-degree range.

Those looking to pick up a Hubway bike in Boston still have two days to do so, and the following map shows where cyclists can. While the stations are hibernating, too, prospective Hubway members will still be able to purchase a membership at the kiosks.

After a successful winter pilot program, however, Hubway will keep all Cambridge stations open for the winter.

“Cambridge broke new ground last year with our first-in-the-region winter operation of a bike share system,” said Cambridge City Manager Richard Rossi in a statement. “We are pleased to be able to build on last year’s success by continuing to offer this sustainable transportation option throughout the coming winter season.”

Like Boston, Brookline and Somerville will close things down for the winter months and all are expected to continue operations in March or early April, depending on the weather.
